There’s something so special about documenting the quiet, in-between moments before a baby arrives. The anticipation, the softness, the way everything feels like it’s holding its breath just a little… this maternity session with the W family was exactly that.
Set on their beautiful property here in North Carolina, this session felt like stepping into a story. Wide open space, warm light, and the most stunning western-inspired details woven throughout every part of the evening. From the moment I arrived, I knew this was going to be one of those sessions I’d carry with me for a long time.
Momma carried herself with such grace the entire time. The kind of calm, grounded energy that just fills a space. You can feel how deeply loved this baby already is, and getting to document that season for their family was such an honor.
One of my favorite parts of this session was how personal it felt. Their land, their story, their style. The western flair added so much character—from the textures to the tones to the overall feeling of the session. It wasn’t just beautiful, it was them. And that’s always the goal.
And okay… I have to say it—there were horses. If you know me, you know I’ve always been a little intimidated, but this session might have officially changed that. Being around them in such a calm, natural environment actually ended up being such a grounding part of the experience. I got over that fear pretty quickly, and now I’m wondering why I waited so long.
